Backpacking is one of my favorite activities, so I try to keep up on the equipment that goes with it. Jetboil is fast compared to most stoves. The problem is that it is designed to boil water and not to cook average kinds of food. (Forget, eggs, pancakes etc.) There is a new form of Jetboil that has a larger pan and will cook more things rather than just boil water.
Any stove that uses the type of fuel that Jetboil does, isn't as good under cold conditions as say white gas is.
So, if you are carp fishing and want a quick cup of hot coffee, Jetboil is the way to go. If you want to cook lunch for the crowd, probably not.

If you are looking for a great all around stove for warming liquids, or cooking that is small and light weight, I would look at a Coleman duel fuel one burner like I have. I cook meals on it, and make coffee.

i have a jetboil myself and vance is right! it is a high temp cooker made to boil water very quickly! if you want to cook a lower moister food like a stew, you can buy a jetboil pot [ it is bigger and a stove adapter plate, to fit the bigger base of the pot,] and put 1 or 2 servings in a pint size or quart size ziplock bag and boil water in the pot and put the bag of food in the pot. but make sure the bag dosent stick to the pot.
i use mine mostly for tea and ramen noodles! it packs down very small and dosent take up alot of room in your rucksack.it really shines when you dont want to take the time to cook or just need to worm up a bit by getting something hot in your system!79.99for black or 99.99 for camo. yes its pricy but i think its well worth the price! i give two grapes!

I also have the Jet Boil and will vouch for it being a sweet piece of Kit...the gas lasts forever and I believe saves you money in the long run.

I use it for making hot tea and it sure does bring water to a boil real fast. I think in under 2 minutes I will have a hot cup of tea made.

Awesome Raffle item for maybe next year....
