Method Mixes << back

Recipe 1

25% ground/blended tigernuts smooth, coarse & whole
10% blended maize & whole maize
10% sweetcorn & creamed corn
10% hempseed (soaked for 24hrs / boiled for 20mins / roasted on low for 30mins)
10% liquidised bread - 1/2 white 1/2 wholemeal
10% maggots & casters
10% crushed / broken boilies (same as hookbait)
5% chick-peas 1/2 whole 1/2 coarsly blended
5% linseed
5% oats

Additives:
hemp juice - syrup
tigernut - syrup
condensed milk
milk powder (sometimes vanilla)
liquid molasses
csl liquor (small amounts)

The percentages are a rough estimate as it will always be trail & error starting with small amounts and increasing slowly, but the ingriedents are all there.

Important notes:

Use the juices!

Tigernuts: soak for 2 days, wash then soak for another 2 in airtight container in sweetened water until a syrup forms, I sometimes add honey too.

The hemp & linseed will keep the fish in the swim for longer. linseed is added at the very end with no prepping as it will be mixed in last & sit in the moist made-up bucket overnight giving a neat stickiness to the methodmix by the morning.

Add the syrupy sticky hempseed to the tigernut mix before adding the sweetcorn to get the consistancies correct when the corn juices are added (i.e no more creamedcorn or juice from the tins if the creamed-corn plus the juices of 1 tin ends up being just fine).

Prepping the hemp: Cover with boiling water soak 24hrs in air tight bucket/container then boil for 20mins. with the hemp juice leftover, add 3-5 tablespoons of sugar, 1 handful of the boiled seeds and 2 handfulls of boiled seeds blended. stir well then boil the remaining juice untill it reduces to a thick sweet hempy syrup. as the juice is reducing put the rest of the boiled seeds in the oven for 30mins or so as this will encourage to take in remaining moisture and bring out the oils. once the juice is thick & ready add 30-40% of the roasted hemp whole and blend/liquidise the rest of the roasted hemp before adding. mix thorougly turn off heat and leave to cool with the lid on for a further 6-12hrs. mmm sticky icky!

Chick peas : soak for 2-3 days in sweetened water (sugar/honey) until shoots start sprouting. discard juices and dry the peas foe a couple of hours before blending & adding.

When all has been prepped, mix it all overnight and leave in the shed with the bucket lid on.

Small amounts of molasses can be added in the overnight bucket also some oats but in general the magotts, casters, condensed milk, milkpowder, oats & molasses for binding are added at the bankside. oh and i always have a seperate bag of small pellets handy.

Recipe 3 - Wayne Kirtley

Here's a Method that I've been using that might work in your waters, it has the advantage of using lake water to use what you need. When I keep it in an air tight container it will last into the next day.

I make it up dry in a large container, mix it well and then transfer it to 1 gal ziploks. I wet it until it just damp and then let it sit 5-10 minutes, its then ready.

2 cups Layers Crumbles
1 cup Dried Mollasas
1/2 cup Bread crumbs
1/2 cup Old Fashion Oatmeal.
1/4 cup Non Iodized Salt, I use canning salt
